Partisan won seven races, all of them at Newmarket including a 350
Guineas sweepstakes when he beat Bourbon.
Partisan was an established stallion at twenty four years old, at
the time of Herrings portrait in 1835. He had sired Derby winner
Mameluke, the classic winners Patron and Zeal, Cytprian added a
fourth classics success by winning the Oaks in 1836. He also sired
Venison who became champion stallion in 1846 and 1847. |
